Twisted View of Oneself
Last week I had the unnerving pleasure of watching a show that exploited a woman who didn't look like a 'regular' queen in front of millions of viewers. In this show, she allowed herself to be laughed at and ridiculed because they thought she was a joke: untouchable because of her weight and stomach turning because of supposed lesions on and around her mouth. The creators with their long and auspicious history sunk to a new low. I am APPALLED at their attempt of humor at the expense of not only her but those of us who are not the typical size negative zero. How in this world did they think that that would have been acceptable. Clearly this woman had absolutely NOOOOOO problem with being the 'butt' of their joke. What was she thinking about? There is no amount of money in this world that would have led me to have stepped foot in their arena with the millions of viewers watching as they torture and belittle me. Where was her self esteem? Where was her dignity? The only thing that she accomplished was stomach churning laughter. Hate is hate!! Jokes are 1 thing but degrading, humiliating antics is a totally different beast. I think the world can handle a beautiful full figured woman. It's not a crime to showcase pretty thickums whom 'regular' folk can relate to and cheer on as a shero. We're not that faint hearted to handle it. I feel sorry for the woman who didn't allow herself to be taken seriously. She wore a target on her back the arrows were let go. That was not a good representation of all people who are average size or above average. Needless to say, I'll be sure to be busy on that night during that hour because homie don't play that!!
