Year Almost Over
Soooooooooo...how y'all doin'? It's been a hot moment since I've actually blogged. Been a bit crazy working on a Whodunnit Theatre program for my church that was supposed to have been performed on Oct. 30 - '11 but because of the unexpected snow storm which took the power out in some areas, we had to postpone. :-( The new date for the show is yet to be established (pause - birds churping).
Anywhoooo...what is going on in this crazy world of ours? Separatism, racism, sexism, sexual preferisms (I know it's not a word but it's what I mean) and alllll kinds of other ISMS are ripping the fabric of life apart at an alarming rate! Do we want the world to combust so that we can kill ourselves and get it over with?
Why are our children being exposed and pimped out without regard to their future well being? What do I mean? Check it...behind every toddler & tiara, dance mom, under aged singer & actor, there's a pimp (parent, industry mogul person, etc.) pushing them into a realm they shouldn't be in at their age.
Why isn't anyone saying anything about the sexual overtones in these young people's, songs, videos and clothes? Have we become so desensitized that we don't or won't see the harm in these little subtle things happening in their young lives? They're being set up to be destroyed quick (pause - thinking of oh I don't know Lindsey Lohan). They don't know what the hell they're doing because they're young and think it's cute. But those who are in control - and I mean CONTROL - of them most certainly do. The money, the fame and the power got people drunk as hell as they sell their children out for it. DAMN SHAME! PENN State should be a huge wake up call but with payoffs and threats, there won't be much else to that story. Mark my words.
Can we wake up? Please.
The "Occupy" Movements across the country should make people reeeeallly see the power we have...in our dollars. We're so USED to spending money on things we really don't need until we're afraid to NOT spend money so that we can STOP plumping the pockets of people who don't give a F*&k about us! Let's try this, stop spending your usual dollar for even 2 days and see what will happen. You've got to know that the REAL power is in our pockets especially in the Black & Latino communities. But since we don't know how to save sh&t anyways, we'll all stay bent over getting the ungreased shaft. Oh well.
What else can I vent about before I sign off? Oh gooood gawd please (tears forming/chest tightening) someone please turn the Kardashian, ex-Dr. Murray, Sheen, Chris Brown, Rhi Rhi, Bey Bey machine OFF! It's the same crap different day!! I send love out to the community theatre actors, techs and performance arts schools helping to build dreams. The joy in the performance arts should be turned toward THEM. I'm tired of the idols. Bless these babies with encouragment and support. Help build someone's future by buying a ticket, paying for a class, building a set or any other thing you can do to support your local performance arts programs. Stop throwing away those who 'don't fit in'! Oh my goodness the hidden gems revealed can light up the sky!
